Gábor Szabó, rector of the university, pointed out in his speech that the University of Szeged is an institution of high national and international reputation, and that therefore it is important that both the students and their teachers persist, even in these difficult times.
The first distinguished event of the Szent-Györgyi Memorial Year was the conference in March featuring nine Nobel prize winners, and as the year is coming to an end, the investiture of honorary degrees is also an international event - said the rector.
