What to do when you arrive in Budapest?

Check the timetable of Hungarian Airlines
If you arrive to Hungary's international airport, Ferihegy 2, in Budapest you can reach the city center by the following means of transport. Unlike cities such as London though, there's no direct metro link into Budapest.
Phone.: (+361) 296 5967, (+361) 296 5968 (tel+fax)

• Airport Minibus - The Ground Carrier of Air Passengers Phone.: (+361) 296 5967, (+361) 296 5968 (Phone+Fax) runs every half hour from 05:00 AM to 01:00 AM provides convenient door-to-door service between the airport and any address in the city. To get to Western Railway Station (Nyugati Pályaudvar), make arrangements at Airport Minibus desk is in the arrival hall. Service to or from either terminal costs appr. 2,300 Ft. per person; since it normally shuttles several people at once, remember to allow time for a few other pickups or drop-offs.

• Public transportation might be more inconvenient but it's not much slower, and it's certainly cheaper: as of July 2007, there is a direct stop at Ferihegy 1 Airport on the railroad between Szeged and Budapest Nyugati Pályaudvar. That means you can board a train to Szeged at Ferihegy 1, Airport Station (thereby avoiding a detour to the city). Tickets can be bought at Ferihegy 1, at the Tourinform Office.
It is advisable to choose one of these options because taxis are much more expensive and especially the private taxis apply unregulated prices.
