Department of Prosthodontics

The department staff, the young dentists enrolled in specialized training, and the students are mainly involved in issues related to dental prosthesis.

Absence of teeth also entails functional and aesthetic issues, therefore their replacement is an urgent matter. Depending on the indication at hand, the Department prepares all kinds of dentures: complete and partial crowns, crowns with intraradicular anchorage, partial dentures, as well as partial and complete removable dentures. Anchorage used for partial dentures is prepared using cast anchors and other types of precision fixture elements (such as attachments, telescopic crowns, etc.).

Following orthodontic treatment, we prepare dentures for those born with a malformation of the teeth or the dental arch.

It is also possible to apply so-called artificial dental roots (dental implants). In this way, the issue at hand is solved without having to grind the patient’s own teeth. Alternatively, fixed bridges can be prepared instead of removable prostheses. A denture prepared with the help of implantation can be used in a way nearly identical to dentures applied on natural teeth. A decision on applying implant-based prostheses must be based on thorough patient examination.

A special task of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry involves complex treatment of functional diseases of the mandibular joint.

In most cases, we also perform preliminary treatment of the patients, or arrange for same in cooperation with other departments.
